Effective profiling for early years;
tracking a child’s every step

Places Wellbeing at the heart of a child’s assessment

Wellbeing underpins children’s physical health and directly affects brain development, learning and behaviour. Placing wellbeing at the heart of the assessment process not only promotes and supports each child’s mental health, but also enriches learning and development, reduces physical illness, and enhances social cohesion.

Sensitively identifies children’s patterns of development using six monthly milestones across all learning domains

Whilst children develop at their own rate, most children reach specific milestones at recognised stages in their patterns of development. On-going formative assessment using six monthly milestones create a more robust assessment than broad age bands, ensuring that foundational skills and key understanding/abilities are not overlooked in a child’s overall development.

Provides clear visual arcs to illustrate patterns of development across all areas

Arc Pathway has created simple visual arcs that not only display the child’s progress but also shows the current position of the child’s development. Using the six monthly milestones, each Arc clearly and vibrantly captures the child’s strengths whilst flagging up any gaps in learning.

Tracks a child’s progress over chosen periods of time

A visual overview of the child’s progress over time is clearly demonstrated. Practitioners and parents will be able to compare the child’s most recent progress with any/all past formative assessments to the present day, thereby spotting trends and patterns in the child’s development.

Creates a tailored Learning Pathway for each child’s next steps

Arc Pathway has created a series of comprehensive and cohesive learning pathways, which become the child’s next steps. These are devised to suit the child’s developmental age as opposed to their actual age, thereby supporting the child’s learning more effectively.

Each learning pathway supports the practitioner’s knowledge in evidence-based practice by including key learning principles that underpin the child’s learning

Arc Pathway’s Learning Principles are evidence-based approaches to children’s learning that underpin and best support the child’s level of development. Practitioners will be encouraged to recognise and appreciate the key aspects and stages of a child’s development in all areas, from 12 – 60 months, thus supporting and enriching their understanding of the child’s overall learning and progress at any given time.
